När man av någon anledning går på rehabilitering är gym kanske inte den självklara platsen. Vissa är förstås ordinerade att träna på gym vid rehabilitering men många måste av lättförklariga anledningar hålla sig ifrån träningsmaskinerna.

Jag blev för ett par år sedan opererad i magen, de tog bort ett bråck som gjort att mina muskler växt jättekonstigt. Detta gjorde att jag inte kunde sova på mage under ett halvår och att någon träning var att glömma. Att gå gick bra och lättare träning. Det jobbiga är dock att magmusklerna använder man till nästan allting. Alltifrån lyfta saker till att springa, vilket gjorde att jag blev ganska handikappad.

Min rehabilitering var bland annat på gym. Jag tränade enklare träning när magmusklerna började bli något starkare, även om det är först nu mina magmuskler börjar närma sig sin normalstyrka. Gym var väldigt effektivt vapen för mig. Det gjorde att ben, armar och rygg inte behövde bli mycket svagare bara för att magen inte kunde tränas.

Det är en av de stora fördelarna med rehabilitering på gym. Maskinerna och övningarna gör att man kan träna väldigt specifika muskler och partier utan att blanda in de som man måste vara rädd om.

Nackdelarna är förstås att gymträning kan göra att man överanstränger sig, tränar på fel sätt eller helt enkelt börjar tänka det som vanlig träning. Rehabilitering är att komma tillbaka från en försvagning, olycka eller liknande och börjar man då träna utan att inse sina nyvunna begränsningar kan kroppen må än sämre.

Kort och gott - det finns både fördelar och nackdelar med rehabilitering på gym. Oftast är det ett bra komplement eller ett användbart verktyg i slutet av rehabiliteringsprocessen.
